In my work, I
am exploring the relationship between recycled metals, precious metals
and mild steel. My art alludes to the boundaries that separate the
industrial metals from precious metals both physically and
metaphysically, as well as the sophistication and beautification of
recycled metals through many of my finishing techniques. I invent wall
sculptures, multi �forms rusty pieces of metals that I revive into
brilliant exquisite squares; using my imagination and bringing it into
the physical world in an attempt to create a link between the noblesse
of industrial metals and the natural and unnatural elements of it.
My sculptures
are heavy and powerful to the eye and to the feel; they are made from
industrial materials and finished elegantly. Some of my sculptures
already found in luxurious houses and beautiful powerful corporate
offices; they grace the walls of these places like gold bullion in
beautiful iridescent colors. Finishing such as; brass, aluminum, copper,
silver sterling, palladium and 24 karat gold are giving an uncanny
dimension and depth to all the metallic objects assembled, forged and
welded in these abstract sculptures.
As my work
evolves, I am beginning to think more and more about ways to increase
the movement of each and every piece included in my sculptures. I am
telling a story about obsolete objects turned into stunning gilded
relics reminiscent of coat of arms or armorial bearings ;and every single one
of these pieces have a story to tell based on their origin. Whether I
work with mild steel or 24 karat gold, my goal is to bring the best out
of these metals and find beauty in every object I choose, to complete a
sculpture. The transformation of these metals and their synergistic
interactions is my final product to the world.
