is a Dublin watercolourist and a full time professional painter living in south county Dublin and southern Spain.
He attended Art college (NCAD) courses and has developed a unique individual style.
He specializes in paintings that take their themes and titles from the wanderings and writings of James Joyce, Samuel Beckett and other Literary and Historical personalities. This has come from a lifelong interest in attempting to interpret in paintings what Joyce et al. so eloquently wrote.
This characteristic means that the paintings sometimes require an explanation of the story behind the interpretation. Each painting reflects the writings.
The main influences are Picasso, Alberti and Turner.
The rich colour combinations sometimes occur by chance as the water flow dictates the final outcome.
Roger’s unique style and individual talent have won him worldwide acclaim.
Roger´s paintings have been exhibited in China, UK, USA, Sweden, Spain, France, Australia and Italy as well as in many national shows in Ireland.
Roger Cummiskey has a large public and private appreciation of his art.
Among his many collectors are EI, AIB, SWV, CA, EBS, Diapetane Intl. and many more.
Roger’s paintings have represented Ireland at the Florence Biennale 2003 and also in London, Stockholm and New York during 2000.
