Member since the very beginning
born in lakeview, oregon in 1961, the son of an italian sausage maker, patrizio ineglio embarked early in a career in biomedical engineering technology. but he never gave up his love of illustration & painting, producing voluminous works in his spare time & selling his first paintings at age 19 to finance his doctorate studies. in 1987, he passed on a lucrative contract in biophysics research to work on his art full-time. in 1995, a move to calgary, canada saw him pursue his artwork with vigor, experimenting in new mediums. not one to shy away from creating controversy in his exhibits, the art of ineglio has attracted wide aclaim amongst collectors & private patrons across both nations.
his landscapes provide a moody & absorbing perspective on the alberta countryside. luminous colours are richly layered under scratched & scored surfaces. the complexities of colour & pattern are reinterpreted from memory to show their relationship to nature.
mixed media is one of patrizio ineglio's favourite ways to work. he enjoys the adventure of no boundaries. "i love the surprise of evolution when i incorporate various materials into my work. i always have fun in creating these pieces."
ineglio also paints portraits derived from black & white photographs. however, the subjects are given extra dimension... revealing personality nuances that are often lost in a photograph.
