Miles Andrew Darst, III was born in Wilmington, Delaware. For over 12 years Miles has worked as an artist specializing in traditional art inspired by El Dia De los Muertos.
The inspiration, if not obvious, is the printmaker Jose Guadalupe Posada. Posada�s prints were political, but he was known for using �calavera�s� (skeletons) that were based on All Souls Day, the Mexican Day of the Dead. Miles began to explore this concept and experiment with jovial characters, vivid colors and unusual perspectives.
Miles further developed his style and received his Bachelors in Fine Arts from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Miles majored in printmaking and minored in photography.
Miles moved to New York City after college and resided in the Village for 5 years. In 1999, Miles left the city so that he could take his new wife back to her hometown of Santa Barbara, CA.
Miles is currently showing his paintings at The Cabrillo Sunday Art Show. Miles� art has been sold from coast to coast and has been shown at The Natural History Museum during their Dia De Los Muertos exhibit.
