Artist Statement
Over 30 years ago, I began to work more with the medium of photography as my main means of expression. I had studied painting and found that just working with the limitations of pigment did not satisfy my need to tell stories. Photography opened a world of mystery and chemical transformation I had not found in any other expression. Ever since that time I have worked to transform light into metal.
The works in this exhibition are all visions of transformation either natural, or alchemical. Many individuals view the works as harsh or confrontational, but I see them as the thriving community full of life just outside our narrow field of vision.
Life is a cycle, the cycle is beautiful.
