About the artist

Karéna studied at Herron School of Art for several years until the death of her Mother.
The grief that followed became a catapult in her art, eventually bringing her to pursue a professional art career.
She has continued in her academic growth through self-teaching and working with other artists to broaden her perspective. Exploring the possibilities in which she may use the media she knows best and allowing herself time to play in media she is unaccustomed, to keep her work fresh and original.
“ I continue to see how God, nature, the human spirit, imagination, emotions, and color all remain beautiful, even in the darkest of hours. Art is my pursuit and expression of the higher things in life.”
The driving force of her work is the desire to make connections with the emotional and spiritual side of others. Reminding them, “there is more to life than paychecks and deadlines. There is a whole level we function at as human beings that is usually masked by business. I would like to be a spark that could rekindle the passion for life again. Or at very least a reminder that it still exists past adolescence.”
