Karen
Zuegner, originally from Omaha, Nebraska, has lived in New York City
since 1982. She has exhibited her work in one-person shows at Dance Theater
Workshop, The Knitting Factory, Virginia Center for The Creative Arts,
Windows on White, International House, Long Island University and in
collaborations at the Juilliard School and New York University. Grace
Glueck of the the New York Times, cited her work with "Ms. Zuegner's
forms cavort crazily but to great effect..."
Her work has also been seen in group shows at the Brooklyn Museum, the
Bronx Museum, the Museum of the Hudson Highlands, the New Museum, the
Butler Institute in Ohio, Long Island University and in other regional
and national group shows. She was awarded a fellowship to Yaddo and
was a three-time fellow at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Her
work has also been featured on the compact disc recordings of the
Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, where she has been a member of the cello
section since 1997.
Since 2002, Ms. Zuegner has exhibited at Jackson Artworks in Omaha's
Old Market area.
Ms Zuegner graduated from the Kansas City
Art Institute where she received a B.F.A., later followed by an M.F.A.
degree from Queens College, New York City. She also attended the New
York Studio School and was a scholarship winner to Skowhegan School of
Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan, Maine.
