About the artist
Member since the very beginning
Jacqueline K Crofton was born in London of Russian and Romanian extraction. At 13 she gained a scholarship to Harrow School of Art where she studied anatomical drawing and fine art. In 1986 Jacqueline illustrated the award winning book of poetey "Stolen Fire" by Lyubomir Levchev. Her work has also been purchased by several famous restaurants, including Langan's Brasserie, in London. Jacqueline has had many successful exhibitions around the world, including France, Spain, America, Tahiti and London.
Jacqueline K Croftons continually evolving artistic vision has inspired a stunning and innovative new collection. These paintings are abstract and intricate, strategically woven with scraps of Japanese paper, leaves, petals and other found items. Some are flecked with gold leaf or characterised by vibrant or pastel colours scraped rather than brushed over the canvas. Mixed media materials are carefully chosen by an artists eye trained on qualities of texture with a final piece in mind that is always innovative and surprising, one that challenges common conceptions of beauty, vision and land. Beauty in art may be an old-fashioned ideal, but our need still has significance. Form, colour and personal vision may excite inspiration, understanding and curiosity in viewers.
