Through the Lens
Photography, for me, has always been a way to preserve memories I don't want to lose; both for myself and others. Through my photography I seek to preserve time, emotions, and scenes that may never exist again. I enjoy being able to both portray truth and create an illusion with the same peice of equipment without the viewer knowing which is which. I seek to combine my photography with other mediums to create a surreal world of color and texture.
Each of my works is a personal exploration that has been brought to life through the process of creating the individual peice. My subject matter and content for my body of work tends to deal with nature and all of the amazing texture, color, and variety that can be found within. I also enjoy portraiture and the challenge of creating a natural looking picture that still captures the very essence of the subject. I try to incorporate these two elements whenever possible.
I have worked in both film and digital media with sucess. I currently create my peices using a Nikon D40 Digital SLR camera. Recently, I choose to work mainly in digital photography due to the flexibility digital images provide.
Many people have used cameras, but few know the power they posess when holding that peice of equipment, and the world they can create with the touch of a single button. Photography has always been a passion and a way of life for me that I enjoy sharing with the public and other artists alike.
