My work falls into two categories objective and subjective.
The small landscapes are purely objective and are concerned mainly with light. Time of day is important and I try to create a mood or feelings relevant to the place I am painting.
The subjective or imaginative work is always larger in scale. The paintings are based on drawings and are figure compositions using memories and personal events. Reality and the appearance of things still play a large part in these pictures.
Portraits fall into the objective side of my work and are closely observed either as paintings or drawings.
