Erika Schrader has been creating whole life, first with paint and then with embroidery. It only seemed natural to her to blend her two loves into one concept. Her pieces focus on color, representing moods, emotions, and ideas, allowing the embroidery to enhance it by adding other visual information.
Her hope is for her pieces to provide an emotional experience for the viewer by supplying just enough information about the topic to sort of "set the stage" and allow the viewer to fill in the rest with their own understanding.
