[underline]The Inside Outside Inside series[/underline]
This series is about identity, transformation, communication and spirituality. It was born from a transition in my life that challenged goals, expectations, sense of self, perspectives of the world and humanity. Beginning physically and conceptually small, the series has created a path that adopts, refines and edits new ideas evolving from life sources. It has the potential to become a full body of work that contains several thematic levels, a chronological life and an aesthetic of experience.
It is conveyed through a visual language inspired by biological systems and organic forms. The images function as the mind’s projections onto the body and the manipulations that occur. They are in a transformation, portraying the development of sexuality and self-awareness within fluctuating borders of identity. An intuitive, compulsive process of drawing with daily observations and emotions coalesce to give the work its overall mood and style. Spirituality is within the absence or negative space, the things that are unexplained, creating a moment of awareness without definition. The duality of work and life – the work makes sense of experience, life creates the work.
