I like to reduce my elements down to symbols because the most simple language communicates to the most people. Often my abstractions waver on the edge of reality, but always with overtones of surreal situations to which many people can relate. At other times, I offer glimpses into worlds with which most people are unfamiliar, and where the images can provoke anything from joy to fear to loathing. But most of all, I want each viewer to feel something - there is no wrong interpretation, as long as you are honest with yourself.
