Digital artwork and paintings. Amsterdam St. Niclaas, Is an hommage to my place of birth. Artist Statement for Wim Streep I am a Dutch painter. Born in Amsterdam. I like to paint directly on the canvas. I am working in a expressive style. A Dutch Fine Art Jury describes my work as a lust for the eye and has something to do with Jean Dubuffet. I like to paint like I am drawing. I start with acryl painting and I am finishing with oil-painting. I like working with the new media as well in some works you will discover the influence. I like the old masters like Frans Hals and the younger ones like Vincent van Gogh and the expressionists in general. I had my education at the HKA Arnhem, fine arts, Netherlands. Before that 5 years study I drawed and painted allready. At this moment I am very interested in Urban-scapes as well as in Portraits. I like to draw and work with video as well.

Growing up in a city like Amsterdam resulted recently in my renewed vision and focus on the art of painting with Amsterdam as a subject. After congratulating in 1984 on the Academy of fine Arts (HKA), painting, video and photography in Arnhem, During the years  I have developed my own style, while being influenced by all kinds of styles of modern painting. Regulary I will take a walk in Amsterdam while taking snapshots. These notes I consider as a basis material. I edit these impressions with the computer and compose a new image which serves as a starting point for my paintings. The final result is an outcome of some years work. For me it is a tribute to my beloved Amsterdam.
