My Sample Artwork
Rob followed lessons at the St.-Lucas institute in Hasselt. Furthermore, he also followed evening and week-end courses of graphics for 7 years at the academy in Mol.
He became a member of the artistic fellowship in 1969, became secretary from 1971 trough 1975.
The following year he left this artistic fellowship after trying, and without success, to form a more “avant garde” active subgroup, but alas was voted down by the general council.
In the meantime he still actively took part in group and solo exhibitions. Also after his artist fellowship period, he was very active indeed. Further on he decided to slow things down, he was looking for a new direction, a new angle.? He knew that uptil then art was his life.
So, he took his time and experimented slowly but surely. His work must be described as graphical, but further down colour became important.
However, besides the often said daring forms, Rob is especially renowned for his engaged vision of people and nature.
He reinvents, sometimes cynically, but the tone is never drastic.
Rob Verheyen wil never be an obedient artist. Originality and daring expose are without doubt his greatest assets.
