Artist’s Statement

Since I was an adolescent and discovering I had a gift. I’ve always considered the paintings and illustrations as coming from a higher source. I’ve found that when a painting or illustration comes to fruition and the work is pleasing to the eye, I find myself perplexed as to the real source of each creation.

Being multifaceted in media and subject matter has always allowed this artist to capture life’s moments and there is always a struggle to capture something more than just what is seen with the eyes.

Sunday Afternoon with Cindy-Acrylics

Twenty-seven years ago, I meant a woman that has changed my life and became my helpmate. It was during the fall that we first started spending time together. This painting is  a commemoration of that time.

Homeless-Acrylics

I left home when I was very young and spent several years traveling from town to town all across the U.S. I spent many days and months living on the streets of whatever place I found myself. This painting is taken from the numerous times I spent living with the homeless and is more of a self portrait (that’s me in the foreground) and a small but important part of my becoming a man.

Gwen-Acrylics

I was a freelance photographer for the Kansas City Star between the years of 1979 and 1982. While working a human-interest story, I came across the beautiful lady walking through the area where I was working. I couldn’t help but walk up to her and find out her tale. She claimed to be Gwenevere the wife of King Arthur. I really don’t know if she was who she said she was, but I away knowing that I had an encounter with something that was beyond the mundane aspects of our lifes.
