Saving Your Images for Voodoochilli
By Harry O'Connor
I try to view as many of the images on Voodoochilli as I can. Now and then I see images the look great, but they are too large, too small or just too pixelated to view properly.
The help section of the site does list some advice for saving your images in the appropriate format, but I thought it might be useful to put down here some advice about getting your images to look just right on Voodoochilli
- Image Size
The ideal size for an image is between about 400x400 and 800x800 pixels. Any smaller and they are hard to see, and larger and they go off the screen on many peoples browsers.
- Jpeg Quality
Try to save you images at a fairly high JPEG setting. Around 60-70% is ideal.
- Don’t use word
One of the best ways of ruining your images is by keeping them stored in a Word Document.
- Consider a border
Some images loom best when they have a border around them. Experiment with different border colours, just as you would a frame on a painting.
- Subtle Watermarks
If you want to watermark your own image, try to make it subtle. I have seen many watermarked images that are ruined by excessively bold and bright watermarks.
