My Sample Artwork
A brief background of myself and Barkenmeow:
I have been drawing for over 15 yrs. My style mainly involves pen and ink, with emphasis in stippling and occasionally dabbling in hatching/cross hatching. I also work with pencil and colored pencil.
My main focus is on animals, often focusing on those who had been rescues, as well as family pets. I've recently donated my portraiture services to help a local animal rescue (Ohio Pet Placement) in a fundraiser. There are additional plans which involve lending my artistic abilities to area rescues as needed for events and fundraisers.
The business name Barkenmeow started out as a name for a bakery for pets. In America, that sort of business is QUITE popular! Baking has always been another creative outlet for me, and being an animal lover this seemed like a fun thing to persue. However, over time, even though I still bake special things for rescue events, I have shifted the focus professionally to art, not food. And it is fairing much better!
My short term goal is to dive deeper into freelance art/illustration. My long term goal for Barkenmeow is to eventually open a small shop possibly centered around the portraiture concept. In addition to commissioned portraits, Barkenmeow would also specialize in animal themed greeting cards, custom designed greeting cards, prints, etc.
