Re: Wallpapers - Antony Burt

They are just a pic. For me a good background picture should be somewhat quiet and not have much white so as not to compete with the icons on the desktop.

I change mine every few weeks or so when the mood hits. Generally most of the screen is covered up with applications, so I only see a little of the \'wallpaper\' at a time. (It\'s silly name for a background picture for the \'desktop\' screen - did Microsoft name it?) Posted by Antony Burt

Well, my suspicions were confirmed. The cheapy Day of the Dead was fun, and Legend was slow and self-absorbed. Day had hyper-fast zomb\'s(but always slow enough for the heroes to get a good head shot), lots of gore and enough sick jokes(tho not as funny as some other entries in the series).

I\'ll take Omega Man over Legend. Heston did what every guy would do, live it up.

I know that I will probably garner some chuckles with this question, but why are wallpapers so prized amongst the computerati? I see them offered up for contests and giveaways all the time. They\'re basically just a pic, from my understanding. I don\'t use them myself, as they make my desktop hard to read. So what\'s the deal? Posted by Joseph Draye

REFLECTIONS ON ART

\"It is useful for an artist to know all forms of art which have preceded him. But must be very careful not to look for models. As soon as one artist takes on another as a model,he is lost.

Why should I try to imitate nature? I might just as well trace a perfect circle. What I have to do is utilise as best I can the ideas which objects suggest to me, connect, fust and colour in my way the shadows they cast within me,illuminate them from inside.
And since from necessity my vision is quite different from that of the next man, my painting will interpret things in an entirely manner.\"
