Curriculum Vitae of Rachel Houseman
Rachel Houseman began her art career with an emphasis in both fine art and graphic design.  She studied classical drawing and art history with Richmond College in Florence, Italy in the summer of 1997.  Later she received her BA with a focus in Art, Psychology and World Relgions from Goddard College, Plainfield VT in 2000.  She went on to receive her Masters in Art Therapy at  Prescott College, Prescott AZ in 2007. Rachel founded "Eye on the Mountain Art Gallery" in 2004. This gallery features Sacred & Visionary Art. In her artworks, she utilizes her own healing process, investigations into the worlds spiritual traditions, travel, as well as the language of art and healing to integrate her knowledge into a symbolic style.  She has developed a unique perspective into art making by exploring the themes of dreams, visions and archetypes as well as personal healing.
"Art is a journey of the Soul in 3-D (Body, Mind, Spirit)." Rachel has diverse themes and paints in many styles that are unified through her use of bright colors and signature techniques, such as depicting auras, that explore the spiritual in all life. Her bodies of work include several series: ColorScapes, The Human Potential Series, Blue Paintings, and Color Therapy Series. Currently her work is on display at Eye on the Mountain Gallery (Taos, NM), Jeanette Williams Gallery (Canyon Road Santa Fe, NM), Metallo Gallery (Madrid, NM), Eklectica (Moab, UT), Gallery Andrea (Main Street Scottsdale, AZ). She was published on the front cover of Sevendays Magazine in 2003, Prescott Daily Courier 2010 and Pop Rocket Magazine in 2011. She works in a variety of medias including: Pencil, Pen and Ink, Charcoal, Oil, Acrylic, Pastel, Gouache, Watercolor, Stained Glass, Jewelry Making, Printmaking, and Photography.  An art book of her works "The Human Potential Series" is underway and is set for publication sometime this year.
