I am reminded of a writing by Ortega Gassett. Somebody can look upon a garden through a window outside of their room. They can focus on the garden or focus on the pane of glass in the window but not at both at the same time. I don't believe that to be true for Artists. I believe we look at the window and the garden at the same time. We are most effective when we see beyond the window and beyond the garden. Piet Mondrian was looking for the same thing in his landscapes. I think you found it, or a part of it. Steve Diffenderfer
