Michelle Roy's Online Portfolio
My Sample Artwork
According to Roy, “Much of my work seeks to explore the internal as opposed to external. I have always been aware of a fascination and identification with images of women while also acknowledging a feeling of alienation from the very same imagery. My work is a study of gender, both personally and theoretically. When I moved from the South to Sweden, I found myself in a new context. I was confronted with new ways of perceiving myself and my past while creating a new identity within Swedish culture."

“I am really appreciating the style you display within all your images! They are striking, yet subtle... The women are feminine yet strong, displaying and contradicting the same sterotypes simultaneaously. Each image beckons its own question, yet concurrnetly offers some sort of answer. A definite and prolific response going on here within my mind! Thanks for sharing your vision...”
Nyanda Yekwai
“I can't help but admire the confidence that's evident with someone who uses them self as subject in their work ...very striking, individual work ...brilliant”
