Curriculum Vitae of Keith Browning

Born in 1959 in the southeastern United States it seems that I grew up with a pencil in my hand. I attended the Florida School of the Arts and won a scholarship for my second year from the Palatka Arts Council.  I have worked primarily as a graphic artist.  I have also worked for many years as a sign artist trying to keep some of the old style craftsmanship alive in the field.  I have concentrated on hand painted signs along with some hand carved, airbrush, sandblasted and gold leaf work.  I closed my business in 2006 and have been working on my own pieces.  I work in many different mediums and styles.  As far as my painting and drawing, I tend to lean towards a more illustrative style.

“Thankyou for your comment Keith. Rick Griffin and those San Fransisco poster artists are fantastic! I particularly like Victor Moscoso's work but some of his pieces make my eyes go funny.... p.s. I think I might of nicked some ideas from these artists particularly for the text ;0)”
Luther Wainwright

Art thumbnail of Chickens of War
“well, i'm surprised now, in a very good way... cause, i wouldn't expect chickens to be in such a historical role. Great idea, so unusially... and the look of the ryder is unbelivable: 'What are you staring for?!'”
Deborah Hustic

“I like fantasy illustration and I just wanted to do some things that would be so absurd...I thought about guinea pigs of war but went with chickens instead.”

“Extraordinario! It's my favourite of your works. The illumination and the atmosphere that you have obtained in this piece are magician. Congratulations, Maestro! ”
Hector Escalante-Rivera

“this is amazing...certainly has a Quixotic feel to it. people have remarked at the humor, but i see only sadness. even more impressive to have been done on painter. btw, thanks so much for your interest in my work. funny you should ask about my equipment. i still use the first camera i ever got...a 15 year old nikon 6006, a fixed 50mm nikkor f/1.8. (and a negative scanner out of necessity) but i push it as best i can. a lot of filters (esp. for b/w) and usually working with a tripod and a cable rel. i usually employ some post-prod. on Photo CS2. with that particular piece, i might have tweaked the levels, but not much.”
Paul Rosenstein
