Puerto Rican artist. Studied in the Fine Arts School of Puerto Rican Cultural Institute with a Bachelor in Arts degree in 1977. Received a grant to study graphic arts (intaglio etching and others print techniques) in the Printmaking Workshop in New York, NY. He has a lot of local and international solo and group exhibitions.
His work in acrylic and oil paint, computer painting and graphic design. Throughout the years Escalante designed and printed posters for many Theater Festivals and other activities celebrated by the Puerto Rican Culture Institute. His work has been included in the book “Arte Iberoamericano Contemporaneo (Iberoamerican Contemporary Artists) published in Argentina in 2005.
Statement
“My paintings talks about color, light and movement of forms. Puerto Rico is an island in the Caribbean tropic with green mountains, deep blue sky and seas, red, violet, yellow and orange flowers, rich color everywhere... like my paintings".
