Talk about anything that pops into your mind in here, over a nice cold beverage(or hot, if you prefer). Sports(American and everyone else, lol), work or play. Anything but art. And keep it civil, folks, or Marcus, that 300 lb. gent standing by the door will have to ask you to leave. Have fun.

So how's the new job as deputy marshal going, Franklin? You haven't had to put your one bullet in your gun, and draw it out of the holster yet, have you? Barney Fife style! lol

It might be growing up but not many of a members seem to want to participate on a weekend......
except for our Stalwart Joseph of course

Weekends are usually slow but this one's been a record breaker I have not heard anything since Friday night.....

It's been like that for months on forums I participate in, Georgia. I have a few theories- gas prices and the economy are forcing people to cut back on extravagances, such as net service. And forcing them to work longer and harder, thus giving them very little free time. And a lot of people just aren't very good with conversation, even the anonymous ones on the net. Out of almost 7000 members, a small handful come around the forum, for example.

I think theres a lot of reasons including the ones you have just mentioned. For me, Ive been working extra hard lately, not because of the impending/current recession, but because I have had a lot of work on. I spend as much of my spare time away from my computer.

Wow no body hanging around the Pub. Maybe you guys are right.

I have a little news. I have been away for the last couple weeks. My wife and I have a new neice. We had to travel 400 miles to see her.
She was born on July 23.
She was 7lbs 9oz and 19 3/4 in long.
Her name is Adyson Grace Holliday.

I am excited we have 4 nephews but this is our first neice.

A ROUND ON ME.....

Hello, hello. Been away a few days. I got a nasty Trojan on my PC, and spent the last day getting it off. What puzzles me, is, when these companies are exposed, they still remain in Google searches(with a warning), rather than being immediately yanked from the net. Of course, there's a lot about the net that still puzzles me.

Sorry to hear about your trojan horse. Glad you got it resolved. Yeah I wonder about those things too. I mean everyone in the world gets the same scam spam and all those have "you seen me" bogus e-mails. It looks like some of that would dry up and go away. Ah well, I guess it is all baby steps.

The trouble is, nobody gets anything done to them, even when caught. On a techie forum, I read about a guy who was prosecuted for this type crap(spreading viruses and such) and was ordered never to use the net again. Now, how do you enforce that, especially if the guy knows PCs inside and out? And they cause a lot of monetary damage, they usually don't have to pay for- repairs, anti-virus software, lost worktime. If I pulled the same crap with a gun, I'd get hard time(especially in Florida). I can just see myself in striped pajamas(yes, they still wear them here).

We have criminals on work release fixing the roads in our neighborhood. I am sure these dangerous guys are guilty of possessing pot, not paying their child support on time, or some other non-violent crime. I heard a statistic the other day that one in 10 Americans will serve time. They could ease this burden by not worrying about drug offenders. Wow tangent! Sorry.

There's a guy here in FL who's doing life for stealing toilet paper. I (****) you not. About 15 years ago, a fellow walked into a portalet on a job site, grabbed a couple rolls and got caught. He had priors(all petty stuff) and got nailed with the 3 Strikes law.

Unfortunately, that 1 in 10 stat usually applies to males- so much for equality among the sexes. lol

This has been a rather depressing weekend. 2 major talents died- way too young. Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes. Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and Paul Newman is at home, expected to die from cancer within the next couple weeks. This has been a banner year for major celeb deaths, and there's still 4-5 months to go. I'm gonna miss Hayes, always liked his music, even better than Marvin Gaye.
Soul Man and Shaft, it doesn't get better than that.

Yeah the links China is going to to make it seem they are doing better than they are is quite amazing.

On a lighter note have a look at President Drunktard at the Olympics.

Looks quite a laugh running a country. If I had known it was that easy I might have got into politics rather than go to art college..

Almost, it is very serious to run a country, but quite a laugh to ruin a country.
