Talk about anything that pops into your mind in here, over a nice cold beverage(or hot, if you prefer). Sports(American and everyone else, lol), work or play. Anything but art. And keep it civil, folks, or Marcus, that 300 lb. gent standing by the door will have to ask you to leave. Have fun.

Sounds good to me Joseph. There is a Scotch Whiskey called Auchentoshan. It's a single malt that is absolutely great. Smooth and easy to drink.

"Probably have a few more so I better not leave too many messages tonight! More than once I have quickly gone into the database the next morning and quietly deleted a post or two that I regretted! Smile" - Harry

Well, if you can't make a fool of yourself on the net, where can you? lol

I'm a bourbon man, myself. I'll drink scotch on occasion, but it's really gotta be good, to go past one shot.

a mad rush of projects headed my way last wednesday and only this morning did i put the last of them to bed. it's been an afternoon of banking, post office, buying flowers for my girl and grocery shopping.

but i was good today and just now (3:45 est) cracked my first cold one. although i'll admit that on a slow weekend at noon i've been know to say, "you know, it's 5pm in hereford" and get an early start.

Thats a clever idea ill have to remember that one Art when I need an excuse.
I do usually wait until the sun has gone over the yard arm before I crack open a bottle But I could pretend to be somewhere else in the world.

It's great hanging here with creatives from around the globe chatting about life, politics, and art... among other things. There are threads about the climate, politics, music, movies, and books. All that could end up here as well. Those are the kinds of things that people talk about while drinking. I am going to focus using this place for any discussion not art related from now on.
I gotta say Joseph. You did an excellent job coming up with a name. If there were a Blackened Voodoo Pub in my town I'd want to go in and check it out.
Also, on the whiskey front... I usually go for something like the Jack Daniel's Single Barrel,. I have always steered clear of Scotch. I was at an Irish pub and asked the barkeep to give me a good shot of Irish Whiskey. He recommended the Auchentoshan instead, so I gave it a go. It wasn't harsh like all the others I have tried. Can't stomach Dewars. Anyhow...
Do they serve skewered blackened shrimp over rice here?

Actually, it wasn't as creative as you think, coming up with the name. I'm from New Orleans, and Jax brewery(the local) came out with a beer named Blackened Voodoo(had a witch or something on the label)back in the 80's. The stuff was a God-awful dark lager(a step below Milwaukee's Best, if that's possible)swill. They may still make and sell it, somewhere on Earth. I'm guessing the Ukraine.

Anyway, it sounded better than the Voodoo Hoodoo Lounge or Chilli Willie's Place.

Ahhh I think I remember that stuff the company had a line of beers that were almost all bad... back when everyone was starting a micro brewery. Well I like the name any way.
Have a good one.

Heh... I could see that!
Saw Cloverfield tonight. If you saw Blair Witch and any Godzilla movie, just imagine merging them and you get Cloverfield. Not so good. We should have opted for "There Will be Blood" or "Michael Clayton" or whatever that George Clooney movie is called. Oh well, next time.

I was gonna see that, at least on DVD. Thanks for saving me some money. I would have opted for I Am Legend or No Country for Old Men, myself.

Well it was a long day. Worked all day building textbook pages on the computer.. saw a lame movie, came home and have done very little creatively. Not even a beer to top the day off. Well to sleep now. Goodnight patrons of this humble pub.

Cool, I haven't been to a pub in awhile. I'll be having a Guiness (when I am off work), or maybe New Castle (I forget what we have).

Hey Harry, what is Grolsch like? Stout, amber, ale? And since you like to play the video games, I must ask... do you play computer games? My son is in love with World Of Warcraft, and it does look interesting, but geez, he wants to play it all the time, for hours and hours. Is this normal?

I myself like to play Soul Caliber and golf, cuz they are the only ones I dont totally suck at (and that is cuz I am playing my 7 year old daughter)! Smile I wish I was a better player, but I never seem to improve much. I used to think it was because I couldn't see the depth of the games well enough, but now that graphics are getting better I realize I just suck. You should have seen me make my son crazy when I tried to learn how to play that flying game (with the prop airplanes). He actually yelled at me then apologized cause he knew, "I was just too old to play video games and so he shouldn't be so hard on me". What is that? No respect for the video game challenged elders any more I tell you!

Its a bit early in the day for an acholic drink I hope our pub does a nice coffee and maybe a croque monsieur.
But I notice there is not too many people about to talk to And that dishy barman is too busy to chatand flirt with; as he is topping up the stock.
Ill come back later when the pub is a bit busier, I spose i better get back to work.

many of the bars here open at 7am and typically a handful of regulars are there to jumpstart the day. they call themselves "the breakfast club". Here i am, checking in at 6:45 for my daily dose.

hmm. . .
a breakfast club??

Wow this place smells of stale alcohol in the morning. Weird how you don't get that so much in the evenings when it is full of customers. Maybe it is our psyche's way of telling us not to drink until later in the day!!!

I am going to visit here later today. My brain is too tired to come up with anything interesting to say and my stomach doesn't do the strong drink in the mornings. Time for omelets and coffee methinks.

Well, Art, back in New Orleans, the bars stay open 24-7. Very rough on the liver, and I don't have a donor lined up yet.

Ahhhh look.. a few of the locals have started to arrive and are milling about. Look at that old geezer checking out the waitresses. Oh shoot, that was me in the mirror! I am going to sit in the dark corner over there and sip absinthe.

All right, now that is better. I am checking out interesting sites and have a cold beer after a long day of clearing the garage and putting all kinds of junk in the attic. It's nice to have a garage again. We can even get to the exercise equipment! Too bad that by the time we got to it we were far too tired to use it and through some shrimp on the grill and had a couple of drinks instead...

Ah well tomorrow is another day!
