Multiple forums? Nothing really wrong with having a single forum with a ton of threads, it's just that it's a little difficult to find a topic that I would be interested in discussing when I have to go through so many pages.

Harry, Would there be a way to limit email notification on some forum threads but allow notification on others?

If possible I would disallow notification of the three word stories, word association, and eye spy threads. These generate a lot of email. I would allow on the others.

hmm thats a good idea - but the reason we changed that was to keep things simple. I know what you mean though. Maybe instead we could have it so that the site only sends a maximum amount of emails out per day?

Saying that - I could quite easily stop notifications for the word association threads for everyone - if thats what most people wanted?

Hi Harry,
been away for few days, but logged on this week to a very pleasant surprise,recently I would click log in and go and make coffee while waiting for it to register, but this week instantly i'm logged in; I was totally shocked.
Well done you must have done something, I give you a pat on the back again.

Before, I must admit, I couldn't always wait, needless to say I didnt stay, now happy voodoo, cheers drink in at Blackened Bar for you.

possibly put some numbers on the bottom of the forum page, or some other way to organize the seperate pages. This way members won't have to keep pressing next to find the last page. Thank You!

Can I suggest, for starters, taking all the stickys at the top of the thread pile, and lumping them into a category, much like the games. Call it Chilli FAQs or Everything you always wanted to know about the forum, but were afraid to ask. You could put all the one question-one answer threads in there, as well.

Maybe come up with a few more categories too. Entertainment(movies, music, etc.), Art topics, Computer, World affairs, etc. Would make things easier to find.

Hi,

To make voting a tad easier, could we have the buttons and the numbers that relate to that button closer together so that selection is very intuitive.

Currently we see:
1 0 2 0 3 0 4 0 5 0

Could we see:
01 02 03 04 05

This will make voting simpler.

In the forum section, it shows the time and date of when the posts were made, but they are shown in local time to the server and not in relation to the user currently browsing. So if I post a message at noon my time, by the the evening it says I posted the message yesterday (which is true, according to the server). Also, it's hard to know how old a post is, just by looking at the time it was posted... How old is a post for 19:52 If I was on just 3 hours ago (my time) and it's not even 7:52 here...

Why not show times for posts less then 24 hours, by hours past. So a message posted at 10:00 AM server time, will show 23 hours ago at 9:00 the next morning (23.5 hours at 9:30). After one full day of time, then the date time can simply take over.

It would be nice to see when an artist became a member of VoodooChilli, and when they last logged on. This isn't a big deal, but when lurking around looking at portfolios, it's hard to tell how active the artist is here. Have they not been on in six months? Are they just starting? Have they logged in 5 times in a week one year ago?

A couple more suggestions:

1)
Have a link to the artist's portfolio from the Blog screen. A few times, I've read a blog entry, and wanted to see the artist's artwork.

2)
In the Your Portfolio screen display the image details pertaining to views, votes, comments etc. It would be nice to see the activity (found on the Modify Image screen) within the portfolio screen.

I was thinking it would be nice to see a large thumbnail page of the artists work who log on more than weekly. There are so many artists that get the page and never come back again. I think the active members should have more face time on the site to promote their work to others. Right now, I feel like I am missing out on looking at killer artwork because I don't know where it is or who they are.

The folks that are here weekly or daily have a love for art and for the site. For that they should be seen a little more. Alot of times I will go back and forth to the homepage so it puts new faces on the artist thumbnails. I pick out one that looks interesting and check out their work. There has to be an easier way.

Perhaps there is and I just don't know it.

Hello Kate,

I believe Harry is already catering for your needs. There is a random artwork function in the vote room. You can access this area by rolling over the drop down menu and selecting 'Vote Room'. There are 3 ways to generate images: Voteless Artwork, Highest Rated Artwork and Random Artwork... Hope that helps...

my only suggestion would be to have the most recent posts of the forum at the top of the page rather than on the last page... I keep answering queries from months ago, before I realise! hehehe! Still, I'm amazed at how much VoodooChilli has improved and grown Harry... it is evidence of your diligence and perseverence! Keep it up!
