forum posting freeze ups

Hi Harry,

I am still experiencing freeze ups when posting to forum threads. This started to occur when we moved to the new server.

Today I posted to the Personal Websites thread. After I hit submit nothing happens. The site won't let me log out and it appears that my posting doesn't show...but it does. I have to quit my browser and then log back on to VoodooChilli.

I am experiencing this with Safari using Mac OSX 10.4.11 .... I'll check to see if the same thing happens with Firefox.

Steve

The same thing happens when using Firefox...I hit submit, the posting doesn't show at first. I can't log out. I have to quit Firefox and log back in. The posting then appears.

This sort of happened to me the other day. I had written up a very long post and went to hit the submit button, when it said I needed to log in first. And my post disappeared. I freaked, as I had spent a substantial amount of time on that post. So I logged in. Guess what! There was my post. Now I copy before I hit submit....just in case.

The actual freezing thing sounds like a computer issue. Theres no code that could make your browser crash - its just html as far as your browser is concerned.

I will look into the logging in issue but I have not experienced this yet, so its hard to fix if I can't reciprocate the problem.

Perhaps. But all my software is up to date, the Mac operating system and Firefox.

This started to occur when VoodooChilli moved to the new server. I never experienced the problem prior.

Hey Harry,

My browser isn't actually crashing. I can open a new window and navigate to a different site. I just let locked up on VoodooChilli. I have to quit the browser to get out of VoodooChilli if I attempt posting in the forum.

Thanks,
Steve

and...I can post comments for individual work on artist's portfolios, no problem it's just the forum I'm getting locked up in.

I don't think either of my browsers like the html in the forum section. It sounds like Joseph is experiencing some intermittent problems too. Perhaps others are as well?

Joseph are you using a Mac or PC?

...and I can post to my VoodooChilli Blog, no problem.

PC, and I have the latest Firefox, too. Maybe that's why the forum has been slow, lately. Maybe it's happening to others as well.

I don't think that is why it was slow, I'm petty sure thats because of the old server. Anyway, I am looking into this now.

What do you mean it locks up? Does it go blank? If so thats crashing. Would it be possible for you to make this happen again and send me a screenshot to mail@voodoochilli.net?

Also Joseph, your issue is separate, thats simply a case of the session expiring. It could have been that you spent so long writing the message that you got logged out.

Good Morning Harry,

The screen does not go blank. I get a spinning time disk that never ends and I can't log out...my computer doesn't lock up, and my browser doesn't lock up it's only the VoodooChilli page, and only the forum page.

I will make a screen shot and email to you right after this posting.

The screen shot is on the way.

Here's more information. When I hit submit in the forum section I also cannot navigate anywhere else in VoodooChilli.

I can hit a link in my bookmarks bar and navigate to another site without any problem, but I can't return to VoodooChilli without quitting the browser and relaunching.
