It's for all levels. Basically it is just a way to flex and try your visual expression muscles. I have entered once. WHen I am not swamped with work I'll o one of their topics. Each Friday they post a new one. Basically anyone can do it. Even for a lark!

If you get bored and need to take a break while working and still be able to loosely call is work do I have some videos for you. If you have a dark sense of humor and want to laugh a good amount check these out. There is a series of "instructional" videos called "You Suck at Photoshop". They are hilarious and informative. Check 'em out!

This is an interesting tidbit. It is a sketchbook from a WWI British Soldier. The sketches are fairly primitive, but give you and idea of the things this man saw and went through in the war. He gave the sketchbook to his daughter and it is the University of Victoria's Special Collections Library. Take a look. An interesting piece of history by someone who shared a little of what interests us.

omg ...your work is amazing!!!... :s ive worked for over 10 years since highschool doing illustration and im almost 30 years old now LOL...i dont think i can get that level of virtuosity soon..LOL... is soo hard to work here as an illustrator only.. :( here is not a regulated career and doesnt exist in the labor registers, so you cant subscribe your self as illustrator if you pay taqxes for example. Market is also really hard to get in..cause no one wants to pay the fair prices for works like this, and sometimes..not even the professionals set the right prices to give works the right value. Is really hard for the way graphic desing, advertising agencys and editorials are buildt here to just be an Illustrator, here you need to do EVERYTHING and at the same time. Graphic design field was settle as professional career here..in universitys about only 8 years ago...so most of the professionals dont have a degree or they didnt had the oportunitie to share knowledge with other people. The new generation of designers and illustrations now, preferd to work with companys outside..cause they always pay whats fair for the work you´re doing. Companys here instead, try to get the best piece of art, at the smallest price possible.Even if you cant sleep working on it for a week. And schools are really not ready to teach what we need, most of us just grow up with some taste for art, or grow up making researchs by ourselfs. :( is really sad and frustrating sometimes.

Well, it isn't all wine and roses here with pay either. The companies try to get you to work for low pay here too. Everyone is cheap! Unless you get some really nice contracts, most of the time you are living paycheck to paycheck unless you have a second job. Almost everyone I know personally doing art also has other employment as well.

Hi all, the urban art fair has started to flag up it's yearly event. I've booked for the Sunday 20th. It's on 19 and 20 July. Even though its a two day street event it gets booked quickly. Information is on ww w.urbanart.co.uk

So i do have a lot of work to do right now. There´s a project and a workshop made by a french illustrator and teacher in about 3 weeks. My problem is that im about to have a complicated surgery this week..and i have to get done this child book in 3 days. The illustrator artist that´s coming have really serious concepts about semiotic and semiology images and how a tale and book s must be illustrated. The woman is really demanding and she wants to push illustrators here to creat an album book in less than 3 weeks making new kinds of images, not related to textual images that offten are made by illustrators here. meaning: she refuse to acept work with images that say the same thing than the writen word. She is looking for new challenges and pushing forward professionals here wich i think is great. What i need is some help to see some sites related to album books (specialy dificult themes like: abandone childs, parents in jail, orfans, disabilities and stuff). Cause most of the tales we need to work are about childhood problems. If anyone can give me a hand on this..ill be more than thankfull. Smile :( after all i have only 3 days before my surgery...wish me all luck folks. THANKS!.Smile

Over the years, my vision had gradually deteriorated. Each new year, my eye exam would usually culminate in a further increase in the strength of my required correction. From a -1.25 (a measurement that corresponds to the curve of the sphere and thus the power of the correction of the lens) to a -3.50, my unaided sight always got worse, never better. So last year I went to see a doctor and lucky I met Dr. Wiles one of the surgeon in the my2020 the clinic I went to. He is so informative and has such a calm demeanor; he put me at ease even though I was nervous about the procedure. He went through all of the steps involved in the treatment so that I knew exactly what to expect. I appreciate everything he has done to make my vision what it is today. I can now see 20/20 with no help and do the things that im into before. I feel like Im back in my teen’s life right now. I look great without having a thick glasses and I feel good of it.

Hi Georgia, this will be the 4th time I have done it. Last year they started to do the whole weekend because of the amount of artist they now have appling. It's not a sure thing when it comes to sales, 2 years ago I hardly sold a thing and almost didn't go back. last year nearly £600. They photographers that came along and had a space each also done between £160 to £600. One of which had never shown her work to the public before.

The guy who makes these custom light weapons is having contest in which he will give one away. I figurred I'd post this for any Science Fiction or Fantasy people out there.
The custom made "light saber" is valued at $500usd. Read about how to win it in the first link and take a look at these wonderfully crafted props in the second link.

According to the description, these things are sturdy enough to practice Martial arts with. So if you are a little geeky and want to win a cool toy check it out!
