Artist Profile

I was born 1961 in Liverpool and through childhood
always preferred the more artistic pursuits and made many of my own toys
although this wasn’t particularly unusual at the time and among my peer
group.  I began my working life as a commis
chef after a complete lack of interest in school left me without any meaningful
academic qualifications (O Level art didn’t count for much). While I enjoyed
the creative aspect of cooking I felt my future lay elsewhere and, like so many
other lads from Liverpool, started a band. 
We enjoyed some minor success in the independent charts and had a good
response from a John Peel session but typically, disagreements within the band
led to a split before any potential was realised (or dreams shattered). 

After this, I entered my responsible period when I worked
various jobs to support my children but during this time I also started to
develop my interest in utilising recycled materials and, for a while, made a
variety of objects from scrap pallets. 
However, the desire to create something unique became stronger and I
made my first mask from old tin cans in June 1996.  Since that time I’ve experimented with different materials and
designs.  Metalmorphosis is my first
collection.
